Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some big announcements as part of Oculus Connect’s keynote speech today. Included is a new standalone headset, and a permanent price cut to the existing Oculus Rift.
Called Oculus Go, the new headset won’t be tethered to a PC or phone. It’s slated for an early 2018 release, at $199 USD. Zuckerberg called it the “all-in-one,” “accessible” headset, and part of Facebook and Oculus’ goal to put one billion people in VR.
The Oculus Rift will also see a permanent price cut, coming down to $399 USD.
