Call of Duty Documentary Releasing from Devolver

Runtime: 1:33    Author: DevolverDigital    Category: Trailers

Indie publisher Devolver is releasing a Call of Duty documentary under its movie label. Titled CODumentary, the feature-length film tracks the rise of the franchise, and interviews several key members involved with its production.

From the press release:

The documentary details how Call of Duty, created in 2003 by Infinity Ward, faced strong competition in its early days from a host of similar high quality WWII games yet managed to rise to the top and sustain its position with a growing global fan base.

As Eurogamer points out, CODumentary is an unofficial film – meaning publisher and license-holder Activision had nothing to do with its creation.

The 93-minute documentary will release 6AM NZST, September 20 on several VOD platforms – including the Steam Store, and Amazon Video.

Will the doc*mentary also cover the fall of Call of Duty as well?

Keep in mind that Devolver's E3 conference/video was targeted against the anti-consumer practices at E3 and the video game industry.

This probably won't be a praising doc*mentary, but rather one that draws attention to how stupid stuff like Microtransactions/Season Passes are in a top selling AAA title.

Fairly likely -- as was stated in the article, Activision didn't commission it.
