In response to criticisms, publisher EA and developer DICE have slashed the unlock cost for Star Wars Battlefront II’s heroes. The amount of credits required to unlock the top heroes – including Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader – will be reduced by 75-percent.
“Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits,” shared DICE’s executive producer John Waasilcyzk in a statement. “Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits.”
“Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players,” he added. “It's a big change, and it’s one we can make quickly. It will be live today, with an update that is getting loaded into the game.”
A comment from an EA representative regarding progression unlocks and microtransactions was slammed over the last 24 hours, becoming the most downvoted post in Reddit history.
Star Wars Battlefront II releases November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you pre-ordered, early access starts tomorrow.
