FPS - First Person Sucky

I’ve been playing FPS games since the late 90’s/early 2000’s. I especially had a fancy for the WW2 genre. Day of Defeat and the original Battlefield series

But man did I suck at them.

It was a bit hard to find love for a genre I completely sucked at. Maybe it was just my inexperience with them, but I got dominated in the above-mentioned games.

Maybe it was lack of seeing the character. The floating hand and a floating gun may have made it that hard for me to get used to. While in 3rd person you can see that you actually have a body. That you are there. You take the place of the camera. It is almost like I’m some sort of supreme being that is watching over me and controlling my actions.

Is it possible that I just can't trigger in my mind how I am moving and taking damage if I cannot see my character?

Could that be why I always suck in First Person Anything? Even racing games, I am incapable of driving well if I set it to First Person mode.

Of course, real life is in first person. You are still aware of your surroundings and you can sense things around you that are close.  First Person in games doesn't really have that. You only have your sense of sight and hearing. Yet hearing only does so much in the game. You don't get that chill down your back when someone is creeping up on you in a game.

Anyways that is just me whining on why I completely sucked at FPS. Maybe I just needed more practice.

I guess the fun in Battlefield is being able to contribute by paying objectives and having your own cool stories, getting smashed by twitchy pvp fiends is never fun. (Host advantage and international lag excluded)...

Sounds like you need to get some VR in your life, the immersion in Farpoint and Driveclub make FPS a whole new ballgame. Driving makes sense and you duck well out of the way when an alien spider launches at your face.

I'm pretty sure it's not any of that and you're just not good at FPS games but you're good at others.
What are the genres you're the best at? Have you tried 1v1 games?

But remember being Positive K/D is like average or above average haha (taking into account all players in existence). Making you better than than lots of people, means ya good.
