E3 Predictions: Sony

E3 Predictions: Sony

Welcome to the third of four articles where I discuss what I hope, and think will turn up on stage at E3 this year. In my first piece I talked about what I thought would hit the stages of the major third party publishers’ conferences (EA, Bethesda, and Ubisoft), and the second saw my guesses for Nintendo. Now I’ll delve into the second of the big three – time for my Sony predictions!

Everything that follows is based purely on my personal wish list of stuff I want to see, mixed with a little guess work. For the more “out there” hopes and guesses I’ll do my best to give some thought as to why I think it’s time for that entry.

With that said, let’s jump into my predictions!

Sony

Conference held on Tuesday 13th June @ 1:00pm NZ Time

Hopes and Wishes!

  • A trailer for inFamous 4
    • Teases the return of Cole MacGrath.
    • Makes the good ending of inFamous 2, and the evil ending of inFamous: Second Son canon - c'mon I want that Cole vs. Delsin showdown!
    • No release date given
  • We also find out what new IP Sucker Punch are working on
  • We get a trailer for a new game from Insomniac
  • God of War Q2 2018 release date
  • Days Gone Q3 2017 release date
  • Detroit: Become Human 2018 release date
  • Sequel to The Order: 1886
    • The developers come on stage and give a gameplay demo, and explain what has changed, and what they learned from the reactions to the original.
  • Sony get an exclusive deal on a new Spyro Remastered Collection, like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
    • Teaser trailer is shown
    • No release date
  • My biggest hope and wish for Sony would be for them to get on-stage and announce 3 brand new AAA IPs for gamers to get excited about, and then destroy us all by saying that they’ll be releasing between Q3 2017 and Q2 2018. No more announcing titles that are a decade away from release – Yeah, I’m talking to you Shenmue 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and The Last of Us Part 2... and don't you be playing a sneaky lie on us Kojima, stick to your word and keep Death Stranding away from E3 this year - at least until the game is less than a year out (now wouldn't THAT be a surprise).

What I think we’ll actually see

  • At least 3 new AAA PSVR titles
    • Possibly a montage of smaller, independent PSVR games too
  • Knack 2
    • Playable with PSVR
  • Dreams gets another gameplay trailer
    • It will also be playable using PSVR
    • Still no release date given
  • Horizon Zero Dawn DLC
    • Will likely be set mid-game
    • May hint at where the Horizon franchise could go in a future sequel (location wise)
  • Another teaser trailer for The Last of Us: Part 2 after…
    • A trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
  • A trailer for Housemarque’s new twin-stick shoot ‘em up Nex Machina
  • A trailer for Spider-Man
    • Official name of the game is given
    • We are given an ambiguous release date – something like “Summer 2018” (this time next year)
  • New Ni No Kuni 2 trailer
    • Announces that it will release in Q4 of 2017
  • Gran Turismo Sport trailer and release date
  • An update on Shenmue 3
    • No release date or window given
  • An update of the Final Fantasy 7 remake
    • Claiming a 2018 release date for Episode One
    • 2018 prediction: It gets delayed
  • Call of Duty: WW2 trailer followed by…
  • Destiny 2 gameplay footage
    • With an announcement of what year-long exclusive content PlayStation 4/Pro owners will be getting.
  • Their “one more thing” moment will be that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive on the PlayStation 4/Pro
    • 2019 release window
    • Will have exclusive PSVR content

So that’s what I think Sony will showcase on their E3 stage. Agree? Disagree? Can’t wait to read what you all think is just around the corner, so sound off in the comments below, and lets all get excited about the coming week of awesome!

They're also likely to have more Crash trailers just to get a little more hype before launch. Plus a look at silver and gold ps4s.

Don't think there will be a tease for HZD sequel, but I'll be disappointed if there's not dlc mentioned.

Sony appear to be pushing God of War big time with that banner and one hour showcase. Hears hoping that means it's due in the next twelve months.
As for SuckerPunch please please show us what you've been doing. I love the split into two teams scenario with a new IP and Infamous in your hopes and dreams segment, could you imagine!?

Oh I'd love to see Killzone or Resistance make an appearance, even if it is a remaster of Killzone 2 or Resistance 2.

Mate that's pretty spot on. Can't see any new IP's releasing 2017 or 2018 though to be honest.

Sony are going to dominate, again. Keen tos ee some more of Days Gone, and perhaps some Spiderman gameplay.
